Mission and Vision statements are meant to provide a sense of direction to the entire organisation. Unfortunately however, the way most corporate mission statements are framed, with a liberal sprinkling of management jargon, means that it remains incomprehensible to most people in the organisation, except perhaps a few at the top. Consequently, there is little similarity between what the mission statement professes, and the organsation practices.
To invigorate and give direction to an entire organisation, mission statements should be simply stated and comprehensible. Popular leaders in history have proved this time and again.
Take for example, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His mission statement can be very simply stated as :
Vision : Free India.
Mission : Dilli Chalo
That's it. Period.
So simple that even a schoolchild can understand it. So powerful that it arouses a whole nation.
Wish management moguls understood the power of such simplicity.

Respected Sumit Sir,
Firstly, accept by sincere greetings and well-wishes. It really is heartening and refreshing to see the Random Thoughts on your blogspot “thoughtsofsumit”. The choices of topics are very diverse and well selected. The depths of contents are much thought provoking and invigorating. One special topic of interest which is quite closely related to us is “Corporate Vision and Mission Statements”. While looking out for the vision and mission statement of our company-Keysoft, I was quite surprised that no where there is mention of Vision and Mission statement, neither in our website nor in our office premises.
Hence I initiated a small effort in framing tentative Vision and Mission statements for Keysoft. Hoping for your goodness in sparing some time to ponder over the below statements.
Vision: To be an exclusive global force in Business Intelligence and Data warehousing domain.
Mission: To achieve our goals with utmost sincerity and commitment by means of best practices towards providing customer-centric business solutions in an honest and realistic manner, there by maximizing the welfare of Stakeholders, Employees, Clients and the Society.
Yours sincerely
Nadeem Zia.
